These are always pretty weird, aren’t they?
Let’s just all agree to look past how weird it is to try and distill ourselves down to a paragraph or two and just get on with it, ok?
I’m Alexandra and this is my little corner of the internet. Thanks for coming to visit. If you’re wondering what you’ll find here, I’d say, “great question!” Let me answer you in the immortal words of Britney Jean Spears, in the classic film, Crossroads, when asked what was in her journal: “Poems, mostly”. (Also, weird, niche Britney Spears jokes, apparently.)
I write free verse poetry. I began writing about a year ago as a way to express things I found hard to say out loud about life–most notably, how often I experience life in contradicting realities–how two things can be true at the same time and how unequipped we are to create space for that. It’s a lesson I’ve experienced most vividly in the depths of motherhood.
I’m a mom to Ezra and a wife to Alex (yes, we have the same name). I have a Masters degree in Social Work and after several years working with at-risk youth, my son was born. I have been stumbling through being a stay-at-home mom ever since. I’m not sure what’s next, and that’s okay–or, at least, I’m trying to learn how to be okay with that.
Thanks for coming to this space. Thanks for reading. I hope these poems find you well.
